South Lanarkshire Council’s budget for the next financial year has been finalised – with over £12 million of cuts.

However, with original estimates predicting as much as £20 million could be wiped from the council coffers, and many believing this to be the toughest financial year for local authorities, it could be described as a good result.

Indeed, there are still some big winners in this year’s budget, which saw a council tax freeze for the fifth year in a row.
