A tragedy has been
narrowly avoided at the controversial Cleghorn level crossing.
A school bus could easily have been struck by a speeding train after the safety barriers malfunctioned.

But thanks to one cautious and responsible driver, Lanark school pupils were able instead to sing the praises of their driver - much to their parents relief.

To find out more about this worrying near-miss, pick up a copy of the Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now, priced just 42p.
