VOTERS in Clydesdale South head for the polling stations today (Thursday) for a South Lanarkshire Council by-election.

The seat - which covers Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill and the Lesmahagow area – has been held by Councillor Archie Manson for the SNP since 2003, but he has resigned on health grounds.

There are five contenders standing in the seat.
