POPULAR Biggar couple James and Charlotte Reid of Langvout have celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary, having been married in Innerleithen on January 26, 1952, less than a fortnight before the Queen’s Ascension to the Throne.

Although James comes from Biggar stock, he was, in fact, born in Baillieston, Glasgow 82 years ago. He’s quick to point out, however, that his time as a resident Glaswegian was very brief.

“My mum went to her mother’s house there to have me; we were only there three days before she brought me back to Biggar!”
