Killing sparks new crackdown in Lanark’s Smyllum

FOLLOWING a killing and a spate of other crimes, police have launched a fresh crime crackdown in Lanark’s Smyllum area.

A senior officer told the Gazette that recent incidents have revealed a lack of faith among many law-abiding folk living there that anything can be done to protect them from the anti-social few making their lives a private hell.

Helping them have the courage to step forward, name the wrong-doers and so get rid of the troublemakers is one of the main aims of the operation.
