Operation Rogue in Braidwood
ALTHOUGH it sounds like something out of the Wild West, cowboys were bushwacked by a posse between Lanark and Carluke on Friday.
The showdown in Braidwood involved cowboys, namely rogue traders who rip off many of our mainly elderly householders.
And the posse was made up of police and trading standards officers, mounting a joint crackdown during which suspicious vehicles were stopped and their occupants questioned about their movements that day.
Codenamed Operation Rogue, it resulted in 71 vehicles being checked on the Police National Computer and searched, 996 vehicles automatically scanned using Automatic Number Plate Recognition, 91 people being checked and searched, six fixed penalty tickets being issued, one written warning issued by Trading Standards, and one male being subject of a civil order against him.
And 13 dangerous vehicles were prohibited from being used on the road.
