Peter Allen guilty of Raymond Black murder

A FAMILY have branded the teenage killer of Carluke father-of-five Raymond Black "a filthy animal" after he was found guilty of murder.

Raymond Black was found lying in a pool of blood with a large kitchen knife lodged in his eye socket after a "frenzied attack" in his Carluke home on January 13.

Two senior detectives said the 48-year-old's injuries, which included 142 separate stab wounds, were the "worst" they had seen in their entire careers.

On Monday, Mr Black's family expressed their relief as the jury found 19-year-old Peter Allen guilty of murder by unanimous decision.

The jury of seven men and eight women took just over an hour and 20 minutes to reach their verdict.

Allen was emotionless as the verdict was read out.

Speaking outside the High Court of Aberdeen following the six-day trial, Mr Black's family said "no sentence" would be long enough.

Lord Brodie deferred sentence to the High Court in Edinburgh on July 31 to allow for background reports.
