Milton Rovers gets Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
IN an incredible coup for Carluke, Milton Rovers Youth Football Club has become the UK's first youth football club to receive The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Milton Rovers chairman David Lannigan was presented with the
prestigious crystal trophy by Lord Lieutenant Gilbert Cox, at a ceremony in South Lanarkshire Council headquarters, Almada Street, Hamilton.
"It is a great honour to receive this award," David (52), who also works as Blantyre Vics goalkeeping coach, told Gazette Sport.
''Everybody associated with the club deserves this for all the time and effort we've put in.
"Some of our coaches are putting in 10 or 15 hours a week of their valuable time, which is a terrific effort on their part.
"So this award is a big thank you not just to myself but to everybody involved."
