Overton Farm boss Willie Young shortlisted for Best Local Food Award

OVERTON Farm owner Willie Young has been shortlisted in the final four for a prestigious Scottish Countryside Alliance 'Best Local Food' Award.

The Crossford-based businessman is now looking forward to attending a ceremony at the Scottish Parliament on December 8, when all the different category winners will be announced.

Willie, who has been at Overton Farm since 1967, said: "I would be really proud to win this award as recognition for what this farm has done for the countryside over many years.

"We have been selling stuff at the door for over 21 years.

"We do butchering for farms and sell the meat on to customers.

"All the produce here — including pies, cakes, jams and honey — is sold through our farm shop.

"We also sell lots of seasonal fruits, like blackcurrants, redcurrants, gooseberries and plums.

"The proof of the pudding is in the eating of it.

"And I'm delighted we get such great support from the public."
